​SEMOVO: UK SPERM BANK SUCCESS WITH RECORD APPLICATIONS

We’ve hit a new record at Semovo with almost 1,000 men applying to be sperm donors with us within one month.

We received all these sperm donor applications in December 2016, just four months after we launched nationally in August last year.

As we are yet again proving, UK men do want to be sperm donors - despite the National Sperm Bank closing its doors to new sperm donors last year because of lack of applicants.

We never doubted that UK men were generous and willing and wanted to help change lives through sperm donation. We’d proven this through our original flagship sperm donor bank in Manchester.

It was one of the only sperm banks in the country that was thriving, with an average of 60 applications a month from local Manchester and Cheshire men alone.

We were award-winning, the UK’s first ever National Gamete Donation Trust (NGDT) Centre of Excellence and a preferred referral clinic for sperm donation. Patients at our sister clinic, Manchester Fertility, had no waiting list for UK donor sperm thanks to our success, unlike other clinics where patients faced a long wait for imported donor sperm from Europe or the USA.

We wanted to ensure all these other patients around the country – from single women and same-sex couples and couples with male infertility - could also access our health-screened and HFEA-registered, identifiable UK sperm donors to have their families.

And so Semovo was born. It’s the only national donor sperm bank that offers sperm donation on your terms. We offer regional donation clinics making it easy and convenient to donate sperm near to you – from Manchester to Liverpool and Leeds with London, Glasgow and Birmingham Semovo clinics coming soon.
