SEMOVO AT MANCHESTER PRIDE: IS SPERM DONATION RIGHT FOR YOU?
29th August 2017Did you see us at Manchester Pride? Interested in exploring more about sperm donation?
We had a great response over the Manchester Pride weekend; there was incredible interest and a huge sense of altruism from the LGBT community about sperm donation to help others have a baby.
So here’s a bit more about the first steps of being a sperm donor with us and what you can expect, in case you didn’t get to ask us everything you wanted to know:
Initial application
Completing our easy online sperm donation application is the first step. It’s a small series of basic Qs about you. Remember that being gay doesn’t stop you donating sperm! We welcome men from all backgrounds and sexual orientation; you’re all given the same medical screening regardless of sexual preference.
First contact
We’ll invite you to your nearest Semovo sperm donation clinic for an informal chat. This is so we can explain a bit more about what being a sperm donor means and the process. We’ll also take a semen sample, so we can check your sperm. If all looks well, we’ll arrange for you to meet with a fertility doctor to go through your medical history and for your health screening tests, which include common STIs and some genetic conditions.
Counselling & support
We’re really into personally supporting our sperm donors at Semovo, and this includes professional counselling, which can be done in-clinic or from the privacy of home via Skype. You may wonder why you’d need it, but sperm donation is a big decision. We need to make sure you’re absolutely ready to be a sperm donor and all that it entails, now and in the future, before you start donating sperm with us. If you have a partner, he can be involved too.
Once counselling is completed and only if you’re happy to progress do you start donating sperm with us.
Sperm donation: A committed process
All these initial stages take a good few weeks, but you’ll be helped along the way by our donation teams. No matter which Semovo clinic you donate to in Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds, you’ll receive the same outstanding personal care we’re known for – it’s why so many men donate to our sperm bank and trust us when they want to do good through sperm donation.
Apply to Semovo
If you’re aged 18-45 and in good health, why not apply to us? Your sperm may be used to help infertile guys to become Dads, by lesbian couples to conceive or single women who want a baby. All are relying on donor sperm, and you just might be the sperm donor they’re looking for.
Complete the online application form and we’ll be in touch. You can also learn more about the process of sperm donation, sperm donor criteria and read about the families Semovo sperm donors have helped at our sister clinic Manchester Fertility.
