NEW NHS LONDON SPERM BANK TO HELP MORE PEOPLE HAVE A FAMILY
29th March 2017NEW NHS LONDON SPERM BANK TO HELP MORE PEOPLE HAVE A FAMILY
The NHS Whittington Hospital in London is opening its own cost-effective sperm bank, supplying donor sperm to other hospitals and clinics that need it.
The launch is great news for anyone who needs treatment with donor sperm on the NHS, especially with NHS budgets already stretched across the country.
It’s good to see another sperm bank sharing Semovo’s focus on patient needs rather than profits.
Semovo provides sperm from our donors to both NHS and private clinics around the country quickly and at affordable and competitive prices, when compared to overseas sources where sperm has to be imported with the patient footing the bill.
All of our donors are UK-based, are screened in accordance with UK guidelines and are counselled by UK-accredited counsellors. Patients can also be reassured that all Semovo donors are registered in the UK as identifiable to the offspring, should the young adults wish to find this information after they reach the age of eighteen.
We’re planning in the near future to open more of our regional sperm donation locations in London and also Glasgow, creating a UK-wide network of Semovo sperm donor centres.
It always been our aim to create an effective sperm donor system which would give everyone access to UK donor sperm, and all the benefits of using a health-screened, identifiable UK sperm donor, no matter where they live. So no one is forced to join a waiting list, use sperm from overseas or even travel abroad to start their family.
With the closure of the National Sperm Bank to new sperm donors last year, we’re currently one of the only sperm donor banks in England that has the resources and ability to supply donor sperm to patients and clinics.
It’s why we need many more men to consider sperm donation. By donating sperm to your local Semovo clinic, you’ll be helping people right across the UK to have a family, ensuring your good deed goes a very long way.
If you’re aged 18-45, explore sperm donation with Semovo. We’re the only sperm donor bank that offers sperm donation on your terms. Browse our sperm donation FAQs, sperm donor criteria and blog resource. If you’ve got any questions about becoming a Semovo sperm donor, have a chat with our friendly team on 0345 266 1272.
All Semovo sperm donors receive £45 compensation per clinic visit for expenses and travel, and are fully advised and counselled by our British Infertility Counselling Association accredited teams about the full implications of sperm donation.
