IMPROVING THE SPERM DONOR JOURNEY: YOUR TAILORED SPERM DONATION EXPERIENCE
29th May 2024
For every one of our sperm donors, sperm donation is a unique experience, from the reason behind your decision to become a donor, to where you donate and how you fit regular donations into your lifestyle. So why should the sperm donor journey be 'one-size-fits-all'?
At Semovo, we believe that the sperm donor experience should be as individual as you are. When you become a Semovo sperm donor, you can look forward to a sperm donation journey that’s completely tailored and personal to you.

How we care for our donors
By taking care of our sperm donors, we can help to ensure that people who need donor sperm – from same-sex couples and single women - can access safe sperm with no waiting list from health-screened UK donors. By becoming a sperm donor, you really change lives.
As a Semovo sperm donor, you can expect:
1. An open and honest sperm donation process
There will never be any unexpected surprises or aspects you didn't know about when you donate sperm with us.
We'll tell you the full story of what sperm donation really means for you as an individual and keep you informed as you move through the process. You'll always know what exactly is going to happen and when and what's expected of you when you become a Semovo sperm donor.
2. Convenient counselling sessions
Counselling is a vital part of the sperm donation process. Every sperm donor has to have it, so to make it super convenient for you, we make counselling available online via Zoom as we find this the most favourable method for our sperm donors. Your counselling will be with one of our British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) accredited donation counsellors.
You can meet your counsellor (virtually) and discuss the implications of sperm donation in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
3. Regional donation clinics
We’re the only sperm bank in the UK to offer regional sperm donation clinics for your convenience. We don’t expect you to make the journey to one central donation location like other sperm banks do.
With Semovo locations in Manchester, Manchester South (Cheadle), Wigan Liverpool, Leeds, and Glasgow, there are a number of Semovo clinics for you to choose from. With our network, you can donate sperm if you live or work in a location close to one of our clinics. And, as they all offer a range of opening times, you don't always have to visit the same clinic. You can choose to donate at a location that suits your life and schedule.
4. Your dedicated donation team
Our dedicated donation team are friendly and professional, and will support you at every stage of the sperm donation process. You don't ever have to worry, be embarrassed, or be nervous about donating sperm with Semovo. We'll do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and at ease, giving you the dignity and respect you deserve at all times.
Why are we looking for donors like you?
Sperm banks like Semovo, recruit donors to meet the growing demand for donor sperm in fertility treatments.
"Despite the growing demand for donor sperm, the UK faces a significant shortage of sperm donors. This shortage impacts many individuals and couples, including those within the LGBT+ community and single parents, who rely on donor sperm to build their families. We urgently need more donors to step forward and help fulfil the dreams of parenthood for many hopeful recipients." - Joanne Adams, Donor Sperm Bank Manager
By recruiting donors, Semovo can offer a diverse selection of sperm to patients, including individuals and couples facing infertility or genetic concerns, or single females and same-sex female couples who may rely on donor sperm to conceive. In fact, according to the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority – HFEA, over a ten-year period (2011 – 2021), sperm donation increased by 43%.

Moreover, recruiting donors allows Semovo to uphold rigorous screening standards, ensuring the health and genetic fitness of the donated sperm. And, to compensate donors for their time and expenses, sperm donors will receive £45 for each donation.
