Donor Story
26th May 2021Every one of our donors has their own story to tell about their donation journey and the motivation and desires they have to help give someone the greatest gift of all– the hope of a child. In the UK, there is a shortage of sperm donors, so your donation can make a world of difference to someone.
We sat down with one of our incredible donors to tell us all about his donation and why he donated with Semovo. We know what an incredible act of kindness to donate is, so we say thank you.
Tell us a bit about yourself: What you work as and what is your lifestyle like?
I currently work as a research associate and data scientist. I would say I have an active lifestyle. I try to keep myself fit and healthy; I run 5 km twice per week and frequently go to the gym.
Can you describe yourself as a person?
I would consider myself a decent person. I try to make the people's lives around me easier, and I try to make them feel loved.
We would really like you to give us a feel for why you chose to donate?
I wanted to help those who are unable to have a child – start their own family.
It is such an amazing act of great kindness, so we would like to know what brought you to that point?
I think it is something I can do, and I didn’t have a reason not to.
Why did you come to Semovo?
I came to Semovo as it seemed to be the closest and the most convenient. (Please see all our 5 locations here).
Please can you give us an insight into each step of your journey?
In my mind, it was not complicated; I knew I wanted to go ahead with the donation. So, I discussed it with my then-girlfriend (now wife), who has been very supportive. In which after receiving my PhD I then started the process.
What was your experience like with us, and did you get the care you needed?
Yes, I did. My experience was very positive. All the Semovo team was very kind and very professional.
How does it make you feel about donating?
It was a rewarding experience to give that opportunity to help someone potentially have a child.
Would you donate with us again, and why?
Yes, I would like to help again, as my experience was very positive.
What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a sperm donor?
I would advise anyone who would like to donate to take their time; for some of us, it is easy, but I guess it is not the same for everyone.
